The Biggest Health Issues Women Face (And How To Prevent Them)

I’m going to cut right to the chase here – when I read this post by Care 2 that explained the top health issues that women end up dealing with, I have to admit that I was really shocked and surprised at some of the items on the list. The post in particular brings up some very unsettling statistics, but thankfully it also offers up some suggestions on how to avoid these health issues from impacting your life too severely, if at all.

While I was aware of the fact that obesity is a rising health issue, and dare I say crisis, in our society, I had no idea that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) actually found that over thirty six percent of women over the age of twenty are considered obese. That’s a pretty staggeringly high amount of women who are meeting the requirements for being morbidly overweight. The good news about this, though, is that there really are ways that we can all treat and prevent this condition. Making simple choices like walking up the stairs instead of the elevator at work are great, easy ways to keep weight gain at bay. Making the right dietary choices is also very important when combating obesity. If you’re havingtrouble figuring out how to replace your unhealthy foods with healthier ones, you may want to consider seeing a nutritionist for some expert advice.

Osteoporosis is also a very common issue that threatens millions of women each year. While we used to be told to up our calcium intake in order to prevent this from harming our health, more recent studies are showing that a lifestyle that’s high in physical activity can actually be very beneficial for strengthening the bones and preventing brittleness or even fractures and breaks later on in life.

Finally, I was surprised to learn that lung cancer, as opposed to breast cancer, is actually the most common form of cancer in women. It should be obvious, but smoking should be avoided at all costs in order to prevent this painful and scary disease from overtaking your body.

Regardless of yourgender or your current health issues, chiropractic care can help you live a healthier lifestyle in an all natural manner. Many people who receive regular chiropractic treatment find that their overall physical and mental health ends up drastically improving as a direct result. Living a healthy lifestyle that also includes regular physical activity and a nutritious diet can vastly benefit your body, and can help it remain strong in the face of potential risks to your health.
